BITUSEAL 1000  self adhesive membranes are produced with a special multi-layer design with a glasfiber reinforcement which is impregnated and coated on both sides with a uniquely formulated plastomeric bitumen compound, which provides high adhesive properties. BITUMAT 1000 is covered on its top surface with a translucent polyethylene foil and on the under side with a siliconised release paper. This combination provides instant adhesion with high tear and puncture resistance and improved tensile strength. A top surfacing of polypropylene film is also available. BITUMAT 1000 DSA with double sided adhesive finish is also available for special applications.

BITUSEAL 1000  is the ideal membrane for dam proofing foundations, bridges, viaducts, and tunnels. It is recommended for use under composition shingles and roof tiles as a protective shield against water and ice. Strips of various widths are used extensively in road design and construction.

The surface to receive BITUSEAL 1000 should be smooth, dry, free from dust and dirt. The surface should be primed thoroughly with BITUMAT primer BITUSEAL 1000 is installed by progressively pealing off the release paper and unrolling the membrane along with it. The membranes, particularly at the overlaps should be firmly pressed down to ensure a good seal. For details of installation methods and flashing requirements, consult the relevant BITUMAT Design and Installation Manual.
